Package of 30 clean, assorted Blue Orchard Mason Bee cocoons, not in tubes.
How to use the cocoons:
When you receive your order, put the cocoons in a cool place (ideally 38 degrees Fahrenheit) until you are ready to release them outside. You may also put them directly into your mason bee house, as some have little trays for cocoons or places for release boxes. If you don’t have a tray or a secure place in your mason bee house, you can use a small cardboard box (like a jewelry box) with one or two 5/16″ holes drilled in the side, or you can purchase a separate release box. Release boxed can be reused for several seasons.
If using a release box, place the box on top or inside on the bottom of your mason bee house. In our cylinder houses, place them on top of the nesting tubes.
If you order live bees, please ensure that spring has begun in your area, that is, early fruit trees are beginning to blossom. Without blooming trees or blossoms, your new bees may starve if put out too early. Temperature in your area must be around 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Please include a note with your order if you have a PREFERRED shipping date. We ship the bee cocoons on MONDAY’S to minimize their total time in transit. They will be packed with ice packs to minimize the possibility of hatching during transit, especially for those who order later in the season. All mason bee cocoons will be mailed priority mail, no exceptions.
