We sell our bees in 6” tubes. A 6” tube will contain between four and eight cocoons. Within each tube, female eggs are laid furthest from the entrance and male eggs nearest.
Tubes are constructed of mylar-coated paper; the outer mylar surface repels water, while inner paper surface absorbs any liquids discharged as the bees evolve.
Each pre-inspected tube is cared for throughout the summer and winter. We don’t open the tubes to clean them or identify their gender. This helps us to keep our prices low and very affordable.
Urban Pollinators can provide mason bees, secure in nesting tubes, from March through April, while supplies last.
We ship bees via USPS priority mail in insulated, cooled containers. We ship mason bees only to the continental 48 United States, and cannot ship to PO Boxes.
Due to factors beyond our control, shipped bees might be subjected to excessive heat or freezing cold during transit, causing them to either emerge while in shipment or fail to emerge once warmed. No refunds on bee purchases and bees are not returnable.
If you order live bees, please ensure that spring has begun in your area, that is, early fruit trees are beginning to blossom. Without blooming trees or blossoms, your new bees may starve if put out too early. Please include a note with your order for your preferred shipping date.
